XXL MAGAZINE - 2018 FRESHMAN ISSUE XXL is a magazine which focuses on music, primarily hip hop. Many features of this front cover support this and signify the type of magazine it is. The colour red, is a primary colour in this magazine and is used for the tagline "We Got Clout". This colour could connote danger, as if these up and coming artists featured on the front cover mean business and are going to shake up the music industry. The font used is similar to that of a neon sign for a store, as if the cover is trying to make everybody aware of the importance these artists have in the future of hip hop. The phrase itself uses modern slang, which could appeal to a younger audience, perhaps teenagers and young adults. This is a very similar target age group to which the genre of hip hop generally appeals to aswell, which is why this magazine cover could effectively attract fans of the hip hop genre. No lights were used for this shot apart from a regular one directly in front of me.  Dim regular lighting from the left side of her face whilst the window was covered to prevent any natural light from entering. Basic shot of direct lighting on the face. No natural light. In this shot, a red light filter hit the left side of my head, not hitting much of the face. Once again, no natural light. This shot used two regular lights, both on the right side of our faces. This shot used two lights, one on the left and one on the right. This shot used a green filter over a kino light from slightly to the right of his face. Once again, the light is from the right of our faces. No natural light is let in. This was a picture taken away from all of the equipment and lighting. It is only using the primary lighting of the room. This was a picture taken outside in the natural light.
